A professional design can make or break your presentation, and templates for presentations ensure consistency and enhance audience engagement. But how do you create a standout color theme? In this blog, we’ll guide you through selecting logo colors, identifying color codes, and building a cohesive palette to elevate your slides.
Step 1: Define Your Presentation’s Purpose
Before diving into color selection, ask yourself:
What does my presentation represent?
Is it for a company or brand? Use their logo colors.
Is it for a college or conference? Incorporate institutional colors.
Is it personal? Choose a palette that reflects your style or topic.
Examples:
Amazon – use shades of orange and black.
For BCG, stick to their signature green and gray.
IIT Madras – use the official logo colors like maroon and orange.
Step 2: Extract Colors from a Logo
If you’re using a logo, the first step is to identify its exact colors. Every color has a unique HEX code, which ensures consistency across platforms.
How to Find HEX Codes from a Logo:
1. Go to Image Color Picker.
2. Upload your logo by selecing “Use your image”.
3. Click on the colors in the logo to get their HEX codes.
4. Note down the codes for further use.
If Image Color Picker doesn’t work, search “get color code from image” on Google for more options.
Step 3: Create a Color Palette
Once you have the HEX codes, it’s time to create a cohesive palette. Ideally, your palette should have 3–4 colors to maintain professionalism.
How to Generate a Palette:
1. Visit Coolors.co.
2. Click on the “Generator” option.
3. Input your HEX codes and adjust until you have a balanced palette. Save the palette by taking a screenshot or using the snipping tool.

2. Apply the colors consistently across headings, text, and visuals.

What If You Don’t Have a Logo?
1. If you don’t have a logo, you can still create a stunning palette:
2. Go to Coolors.co.
3. Explore pre-made palettes or create your own from scratch.
4. Choose colors that align with your topic or personal style.
Bonus Tip: Keep It Simple
Avoid using more than four colors in your palette. Too many colors can make your presentation look cluttered and unprofessional.
