NTU vs. NUS: Which is Better?

Both NUS and NTU are ranked among the top 15 universities in the world, making them excellent choices for higher education. You can have a look at the QS World University Ranking Screenshots of both of these below.

However, many students ask whether they should choose NUS or NTU. While both universities are exceptional in terms of teaching quality, research facilities, and career opportunities, NUS has a slight edge due to its global reputation and longer history.

That said, NTU is still a fantastic option. If you get offers from both universities, consider looking at subject-specific rankings and speaking with current students or alumni to help make your decision.

For example, for material sciences subject, NTU is ranked 5th globally and NUS is ranked 8th globally. So, in this case it is better you opt for NTU. The screenshots are attached.

Diploma and Short-Term Programs in Singapore

Many universities in Singapore offer short-term diploma courses that last around six months.

However, from my experience, I believe these programs don’t provide much value unless you have prior work experience or a strong background in the field.

A six-month diploma is more of a certification and might not significantly enhance your job prospects in Singapore or globally.

If you’re already in Singapore on a dependent pass and are looking to gain some local educational experience, these programs could be an option. However, it’s essential to manage your expectations regarding job prospects post-completion.

Beware of Misleading Consultancies

Be cautious when dealing with consultancies that promote lesser-known universities in Singapore or promise guaranteed job placements. It’s crucial to do your own research, talk to people who are currently studying in those universities, and fully understand the situation before making a decision.
