Select the right template
To make a great first impression, start with a professional template.
With a strong template, you’ve already tackled half the challenge. You can find free templates online or use the one provided in our Resume Buiding Course.
Given below are different important sections in a fresher’s resume.
1. Education – the most important section
Formatting: Use a tabular format to organize information clearly.
Include: University or college name, Time period attended, Degree name and program, CGPA (if good)
Relevant Coursework: List 3-4 subjects related to the internship you’re seeking. This fills space, acts as keywords, and highlights your knowledge.
Additional Information: Mention Class XII and X details, including school name, board, and marks/percentage.
2. Work/Internship Experience
This is an optional section to include in case you have already worked or interned in a company.
Include – Company Name & Location, Dates Employed, Job Title, Achievements & Responsibilities
Note – Make sure that you include relevant statistics to make it more impactful
3. Academic Projects
Assignments/Projects: Include any assignments or projects from your first year.
Include: Title of the project, When it was completed, Brief description of the project
Relevance: Ideally, include projects related to the field you’re applying to. If not, it still demonstrates practical experience and knowledge.
4. Leadership Experience
Mention any clubs or societies you joined in college, whether technical (like a coding club) or cultural.
Briefly describe your roles and responsibilities within these groups, and highlight any leadership positions or notable contributions.

Languages: List the languages you know and mention your proficiency level (e.g., native, bilingual, limited working proficiency).
6. Achievements
Test Scores: Mention exceptional scores in Olympiads, JEE, SAT, IELTS, etc.
Unique Achievements: Include notable school accomplishments like state or national-level competitions (e.g., swimming, classical dance) or significant awards.
Exclude: Avoid listing routine or less significant achievements (e.g., interschool dance competition, intrahouse sports).
7. Extra-curricular activities section
Include your participation in college-level competitions, fests, hackathons, cultural events, and sports activities. Winning a prize is not required; simply participating is sufficient to showcase your engagement and involvement.
8. Hobbies and Interests
If you have space in your resume, then you can have a hobbies and interest section. Here, you can mention 2-3 things like playing badminton, learning an instrument, public speaking, paiting, reading etc.
